Teun Johnston has been one of the most prominent executives in the UK hedge fund industry for almost 15 years. As CEO of Man GLG, Johnston oversees the strategic direction and overall running of the $27.3 billion fund. His joint position on the Man Group Executive Committee also places him at the forefront of decision making within the world’s third largest hedge fund and a key part of the company’s management team.
Founded in 1995, GLG was acquired by Man Group in 2010 for $1.6 billion. The firm currently has 108 investment professionals and manages 30 strategies across its portfolios. Regarded as one of the most successful discretionary fund managers globally, Man GLG has received more than 21 coveted awards for its success in the industry.
During his time at Man Group, Johnston has been a driving force behind promoting diversity within the firm. Through his championing of equal opportunities for women at GLG, the fund is now one of the most gender inclusive in the UK.
Prior to joining Man GLG, Mr Johnston ran the multi-manager business at Oakley Capital where he served as Head of Investments. Johnston graduated from the University of Manchester with a Masters in Engineering, Manufacturing and Management, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
